Résumé : A four and a half year old boy inhaled a collar button, which was followed by rapid acute asphyxia. Intensive therapy improved the neurological state, without restoring it to normal. Cerebral angiography carried out 24 hours after admission was normal. The author stresses the necessity of repeated precise studies, which made possible the detection of the progressive onset of diabetes insipidus, the aetiopathology of which is discussed. The child died on the 6th day despite the use of every available therapeutic agent.
