Résumé : The invariance properties of the zero crossings (ZCs) of the Laplacian of Gaussian operator (LoG) are derived. Previously, S. Castan and D. Shen have described the 'Stereo Correspondence Equation System (SCES)' from which they conclude that the ZCs of the Laplacian (ZCs of L) are not invariant for different viewpoints, except for images of a 3-D surface which is perpendicular to the optical axes of the cameras. We will point out that - due to the choice of an inappropriate mathematical model - this conclusion based on the SCES is far too restrictive. An 'Invariant Feature Theorem' based on the properties of the ZCs of LoG is given. A practical experiment is described which confirms the theoretical results.
