Résumé : The subject of this paper is to examine the role played by cancer in the pathogenesis of the so-called carcinomatous neuropathies and myopathies. This last nomenclature can have two different meanings: 1. (a) Either a non-specific complication of cancer. In this case, carcinomatous neuromyopathies would have various pathogenic factors. 2. (b) Or lesions which result from a direct and specific action by the tumoral tissue. Such an effect of malignant tumors has never been demonstrated. Statistical studies devoted to this problem do not take into consideration a certain number of criteria and do not show such an action. The independence of the clinical evolution of the cancer and the associated neuromyopathies make this last hypothesis unlikely. © 1967.
