Résumé : In 201-2011 the former beguinage of Anderlecht was the subject of an interdisciplinary research at the crossroads of history, architectural archaeology, dendro(chrono)logy and physical and botanical sciences. This research revealed the existence of a well preserved timber frame of the 15th century hidden in the present building of the late 17th century. This article aims, firstly, to place this beguinage in the context of similar institutions in our region, and secondly, to make a thorough study of the original building by focusing on the examination of the materials that were used, especially the wood. The results of this study reveal an exceptional witness to the vernacular architecture of the late Middle Ages and one of the oldest buildings of this type known to dale in Belgium. © Münster, Westfälisches Landcsmuseuni für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte.
