Résumé : | Patients that take immunosuppressive treatments are at greater risk of developing infections, and these infections tend to be more severe when compared to individuals not on immunosuppressive treatment. It is therefore important to anticipate some infectious complications with preventive measures. Herein, we review the different vaccines that are recommended before beginning immunosuppressive treatment. Three groups of vaccines are discussed: Standard routine vaccines that all patients should have received during their childhood and then as an adult, supplementary vaccines recommended for patients receiving immunosuppressive treatment, and vaccines for travel. The primary physician can play an important role in helping diminish the risk of infectious diseases by ensuring that vaccination is implemented. |
