Résumé : The burden of cardiovascular diseases is rising in the developing world including Sub-Saharan Africa. The rapid rise of cardiovascular disease burden is in part due to undetected and uncontrolled cardiovascular risk factors. The clustering of metabolic syndrome (MetS) components is associated with a high risk of cardiovascular diseases. This complex biochemical disorder is still poorly studied in western Africa. In this study, we aimed to determine the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its determinants among the adult population in Burkina Faso.
