Résumé : | After the disappearance of Eastern Sigillata A, all fine wares were imported to Syria. Next to the Cypriot Red Slip and to the Phocaean Red Slip, which composed the majority of the corpus, African Red Slip Ware was well distributed on coastal sites as well as inland, until the end of its production. Evidence of locally produced red slip wares imitating ARS, PRS or CRS was found on some sites (Antioch, Apamea or Dehes), but these do not appear to have been distributed at a large scale.Likewise, most of the wine amphorae were imported from Cilicia (LRA 1), Sinope or Palestine (LRA 4-6 and 9). It is worth noting that, so far, no amphorae have clearly been associated with oil. Only one type of amphora, the North Syrian Amphora 1 (NSA 1), was locally produced in the Euphrates region, probably around Zeugma. |
