Résumé : This work is focused on the recent discovery of morphine-like peptides: the enkephalins and endorphins. The different steps of neuronal morphinic receptors isolation, the present concept of morphinic receptor as well as the discovery of natural ligands for these receptors are reviewed. The practical interest of this discovery as well as its therapeutic and diagnostic implications, especially in physical medicine, are presented. The importance of natural endogenous peptides as neurotransmitters or neuromodulators is emphasized.
