Résumé : To the Editor: We do not feel as happy as Chatterjee et al.1 about the hepatitis issue in our transplant unit. As these investigators observed, in our own series of 22 living-donor and 180 cadaverdonor kidney transplants, the graft and patient survival rates are similar for the HB s Ag-positive and for the HBS Ag-negative patients. It should be pointed out, however, that among our 82 patients with currently functioning graft (one to 84 months after operation), 23 are or have been carrying the HBs Ag on routine periodic screening, sometimes for periods exceeding one year.
