Résumé : Three methods for the cleavage of 2,4‐dinitrophenylhydrazones are described: Reduction of the DNPH with Na2S2O4, followed by hydrolysis; Reduction of the DNPH with SnCl2.2H2O, followed by hydrolysis; Displacement of the DNPH by means of a large excess of acetone in the presence of acid, followed by reduction with SnCl2.2H2O. The third method is the most general one; it has been applied with success to different types of keto‐steroids. Copyright © 1959 Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim
