Résumé : Somatosensory evoked potentials (EP) were studied in normal unanesthetized rabbits. The electrical stimuli were applied to the distal part of fore and hindpaw. Contralateral and homolateral responses were recorded using chronically implanted, extradural and isolated cortical electrodes. This investigation demonstrates that the rabbit can be considered as a model for the interpretation of the EP's observed in higher mammals. Indeed the lissencephalic structure at the cortical level and the insignificance of the spinocervicothalamic tract allows a separate investigation of the lemniscal and extralemniscal tracts.
