Résumé : There are no firm data indicating that febrile response is useful for the survival of individuals with severe infections. Preliminary results suggest that the mortality of gram negative septicemia might be reduced by suppression of fever during the course of illness. Cases of fever of unexplained origin in patients with cancer are relatively rare (1% in the present series). Most of the patients with cancer have a localized bacterial infection.
