Résumé : 40 patients with Heberden nodes (involving at least 2 distal interphalangeal joints of one hand and one of the other hand) and 60 blood donors were studied. Determination of the histocompatibility antigens was made according to the cytophotoxicity technique. A high incidence of HLA B8 (11/40 compared to 6/60; P<0.05) and a low incidence of HLA BW 17 (0/40 compared to 9/60; P<0.02) were noted in patients with Heberden nodes compared to controls. This interesting preliminary observation, which might be related to the high incidence of HLA B8 described in the vertebral ankylosing hyperostosis of Forestier disease, allows us to extend this study to a greater number of patients.
