Résumé : A 74 yr old patient with tabes dorsalis had a right knee joint operated on 2.5 yr before with a Walldius prosthesis and suffered a multifragmental lower femur fracture during walking. The replacement of the unsealed femoral stem was impossible because the parts were not interchangeable. So the treatment was the placement of a Walldius Debeyre prosthesis with a long intramedullary stem. A new high femoral fracture occurred at the level of the proximal end of the stem. To treat this traumatic lesion a small intramedullary nail was used which was driven with friction along the stem of the implant.
