Résumé : The study is based on 120 cases of breast cancer. A mastectomy according to Madden was carried out after complete, locoregional and general evaluation. Echographic examination by mechanical radial scanning with a 5 MHz sound is compared with radiological and histological data. In particular, the following characteristics were studied: appearance of the outlines and internal echos, transmission of the ultrasonic beam. Particular attention was paid to the density and the outlines of the radiological opacity and the presence of microcalcifications. The histological type and the size and location of the stroma reaction were noted by anatomopathological examination. The echographic extent of the tumors is compared with radiological and clinical measurements. Lastly, alterations in the echographic appearance of the subcutaneous space were compared with clinical and radiological data.
