Résumé : The writers present results of their experience in ventriculo-mastoidostomy for the management of hydrocephalus. From nine cases operated upon by this method, two developed serious meningeal infection (one of which proved fatal) directly related to the creation of the cerebrospinal fluid outflow; one other case died shortly after operation, owing to laceration of the lateral sinus. Stress is laid upon the obvious, advantages of this method, simple to apply and suitable for every type of hydrocephalus. Nevertheless, the writers think it should be discarded because of the real danger of infection progressing from the mastoid up to the subarachnoïd spaces or ventricular system. © 1954 Springer-Verlag.
