Résumé : Excavations conducted by the Royal Archaeology Society of Brussels at Coudenberg Castle have unearthed few remains of constructions that could be attributed to the original building. They are concentrated in the main part of the living quarters which included a cellared building with a quadrangular plan. While they can only be dated very roughly, all the evidence (stone-cutting techniques and Period I Andenne ceramics) points to the twelfth century. Shards of older pottery indicate a presence of type unknown on the site back in the eleventh century.
