Résumé : The following study aims at deepening the research to capture the expression and understand the role of fundamental European political values and concepts such as solidarity in times of crises in a complex politicized world. Indeed during the last years, European Community has faced a multitude of crises that raise critical questions such as the real meaning of European identity, Integration, solidarity, etc. Focusing on the migration/refugee crisis that has plagued Greece over the last 10 years, we try to analyze how the public discourse emanating from political media channels has been expressing -influenced by the political context which prevails in Greece- the concept of solidarity as defined after research and application in our theoretical approach. We first conduct a thorough review of media coverage of the migration crisis to point out the lack of research concerning fundamental values such as solidarity, followed by the conceptualization of the latter which will be used to construct our framework model. Indeed drawing upon the social and political theory around the concept of solidarity and theories defining old and modern cleavages we proceed to analyze 5 political newspapers in Greece covering most of its ideological political scope by categorizing the content of the articles on the front pages of these newspapers based on our Solidarity framework and comparing the findings. We conclude according to the way solidarity is expressed by these media outlets that public discourse in Greece is divided according to our framework which reflects the juxtaposition of the different ideational, societal and political cleavages.
