Mémoire
Résumé : | Social media have become part of our everyday life and have become an important tool for activists around the world. Online activism has proven to be useful for sharing information and spreading awareness. In Latin America where feminist movements are booming, social media are being widely used by feminist activists. In this paper, I discuss how social media are transforming feminist movements by analyzing the reasons that lead Argentine and Mexican feminists to use social media. The research aims at determining how social media and online activism have changed the way people get involved in feminism in Argentina and in Mexico and whether social media have led to the apparition of a common Latin American feminism. For this purpose, I conducted semi-structured interviews with twelve activist feminists from Argentina and Mexico to better understand their motivations for using social media. |
