Résumé : Since the Eighties, with the development of data processing, the notion of utilisability increased in interest and popularity. Based on Information and Communication Technologies (software, sites, Web…), this concept is defined as “the degree according to which a product can be used, by identified users, to reach definite goals with effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction, in a context of specified use” (ISO 9241 normalizes). The new utilisability laboratory (U-Lab) located in the middle of the Laboratoire de Psychologie du Travail et Psychologie Economique (LAPTE) of the Université Libre de Bruxelles is an efficient tool in the evaluation of the utilisability of some interfaces. Equipped with the last audio and visual technologies, this laboratory offers the possibility to study of the human behaviour, avoiding any direct interaction between observers and user during tasks solving. This U-Lab constitutes an efficient research tools in design and improvement of computer applications. Through this poster, we will present the general methodology of utilisability tests (population, testing, measurements…) and we will focus on the organization / design of this U-laboratory; its architecture, its ergonomics and its audio-visual technologies. This presentation will be illustrated by pictures and plans and examples of original study.
