| Résumé : | The statistical mechanical definition of entropy introduced by Prigogine et al. is used to derive the entropy balance equation for an arbitrary non-uniform system. It is shown that in the linear domain of irreversible processes Gibbs' entropy law is verified to all orders in the intermolecular interactions and to all orders in the density. © 1969. |
