| Résumé : | This article explores the emergence of the numerical point cloud for representing air in architectural drawings. It traces the origins of the point cloud and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to Los Alamos in the 1940s and 1950s. There, Group T-3, led by Francis Harlow, used some of the earliest electronic computers to simulate the motion of fluids in space. Initially conceived in the context of nuclear weapon research, their numerical fluid simulation techniques eventually became used in a vast array of fields of research, including architecture and urban design. |
