Résumé : Abstract: This entry presents the two main types of multiple-tier electoral systems. First, it discusses systems with territorial tiers at various levels and vote pooling across levels for the allocation of supplementary or remainder seats. Second, it reviews systems in which seats from different tiers are allocated based on different electoral formulae. This entry concludes with ongoing debates in the literature.
