Résumé : This entry provides an overview of party organizational types. It distinguishes the various faces of party organizations and the ideal types based on the balance of power between these faces. It also presents the main explanations for party organizational change that respectively stress the role of a changing environment and of party agency. Lastly, this entry stresses the main transformations that (some) party organizations have embraced in the last few decades: disintermediation, personalization, digitalization, blurring and transnationalization.
