| Résumé : | This article summarizes the critical debate around the text and meaning of Sappho’s fr. 1, ll. 23f. and, in addition, claims that a crucial problem, which bears on the relational logic at work in the stanza, has gone unnoticed so far. A new version of ll. 23f. is proposed. It is shown that significant links with the epic intertext contribute to enriching its symbolic dimension, and that it conforms to the syntactic and discursive norms of Lesbian lyric. |
