3D radiative heat transfer calculations using Monte Carlo ray tracing and the hybrid statistical narrow band model for hypersonic vehicles

Résumé :

This work aims to couple an efficient Monte Carlo Ray Tracing algorithm with the Hybrid Statistical Narrow Band model to provide accurate calculations of multidimensional radiative heating around hypersonic entry vehicles in highly nonequilibrium flows. The goal is to reach an efficiency level which may enable the coupled solution of the complex flow, radiation, and ablation phenomena surrounding atmospheric entry vehicles.
