Résumé : | This contribution pays tribute to Jean Salmon’s commitment to the recog-nition of the State of Palestine. Referring to the two seminal articles writtenby Jean Salmon on this issue, an analysis is proposed of recent developmentsregarding the question of the statehood of Palestine, as it has arisen before theInternational Criminal Court, the United Nations Committees, or within theframework of the request for an advisory opinion submitted to the InternationalCourt of Justice by the United Nations General Assembly, concerning the pro-longed occupation of Palestinian territory by Israel. The contribution concludesthat, in line with the position expressed by Jean Salmon, the statehood status ofPalestine has acquired an absolute dimension following its admission as a non-member observer state within the United Nations. |
