Résumé : The dynamics of creation are sometimes difficult to observe when it comes to a film soundtrack. In an important essay, “Introduction to the problems of music in film”, published in the framework of a special issue of Bianco & Nero entitled Music in Italian cinema, Enzo Masetti notes how [f]ilm scoring should always arise from a specific need that can be allusive or evocative, or from a contingent need that can be introspective or descriptive, delivered in such a way that it could have more than a horizontal expansion, the power of vertical transformation, so as to allow it to express the sound transfiguration of moods and the environment. 1 (Masetti 1950: 20).
