Thèse de doctorat
Résumé : | This thesis undertakes a comparative analysis of the public diplomacy policies of France and Japan, examining the impact of national culture on their formulation. The objective is to elucidate how both nations advance their identity through public diplomacy via a dual approach. Initially, it scrutinises the diplomatic practices within the Ministries of Foreign Affairs to comprehend how these practices reflect and originate from institutions with distinct organisational cultures. Furthermore, it investigates the diplomatic narratives articulated by French and Japanese policymakers, highlighting the cultural references they employ to project a favourable image internationally. This dissertation also incorporates two case studies to substantiate the central argument, specifically focusing on the utilisation of national language and the religious factor, elucidating how cultural and identity elements are leveraged as diplomatic resources. |
