Résumé : | The Middle East Region has become more strategically significant over time as a result of historical, geopolitical and economic factors. China has therefore placed a high value on this region. In a focus on the Sino-Saudi relationship, the expansion of their bilateral ties has resulted from shared interests, evolving geostrategic perspectives, and synergetic policy initiatives, specifically China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Saudi Vision 2030. Saudi Arabia holds an essential strategic position for China, occupies a global role in Islam and is an energy giant, all of which make ties with Riyadh a major pillar of Beijing’s Middle East strategy. China is Saudi Arabia’s major economic partner, in terms of energy and investment. The essay examines the fundamental factors of the growing Sino-Saudi relationship. We analyse the prominent milestones of their relation in terms of diplomacy, energy, economy, investment, ans smart investment within the context of China’s strategic hedging approach towards the kingdom. Despite their mutual interests and their rapidly increasing ties, their relationship has the capacity to influence major actors, alter geopolitical dynamics and potentially influence the region’s future. The article sheds the light also on the upcoming trends and challenges that lie ahead. |
