Résumé : | This short paper presents a case study of working with data from biographical dictionaries, which is part of my PhD thesis 'Mapping Russian Avant-Garde Networks in Exile: A Digital Humanities Approach.' This research project focuses on studying artistic emigration from the Russian Empire during the interwar period of the 20th century and its impact on the development of the avant-garde in Western Europe. The paper details the process of web scraping the data from the biographical dictionary on Russian émigré artists published online. Additionally, it discusses various technical and ethical nuances of using this data extraction method. |
