Résumé : | This introduction discusses the rationale and relevance of this handbook in light of recent developments in comparative politics literature and the growing significance of autocratization phenomena in the contemporary world. The chapter outlines the structure of the handbook, divided into five sections covering concepts, approaches, and measurement; structures and institutions; actors; consequences and impact; and regional perspectives. Finally, the introduction briefly identifies some patterns, variables, and explanations that may encompass different cases of recent autocratization and discusses some of the most relevant and potentially promising research themes for the future development of this research agenda. |
