| Résumé : | From Quo vadis? to Tenet, through The Exorcist, this article offers some examples to illustrate the presence of Latin in Hollywood productions. From the MGM motto (Ars gratia artis) to the spells of Harry Potter, the language of Cicero appears with a certain resilience within various genres and contexts and in registers ranging from the most serious (Dead Poets Society, The 13th Warrior, The Passion of the Christ, Invictus...) to the most offbeat (Tombstone) or zany (Life of Brian). // De Quo vadis? à Tenet, en passant par L'Exorciste, cet article propose quelques exemples visant à illustrer la présence du latin dans des productions hollywoodiennes. De la devise de la MGM (Ars gratia artis) jusqu'aux sortilèges de Harry Potter, la langue de Cicéron se manifeste avec une certaine résilience au sein de genres et de contextes très divers et dans des registres allant du plus sérieux (Le Cercle des Poètes Disparus, Le 13e Guerrier, La Passion du Christ, Invictus...) au plus décalé (Tombstone) ou au plus loufoque (La Vie de Brian). |
