The author is presenting the different surgical WHFKQLTXHV DYDLODEOH IRU FRUUHFWLRQ RI ïQJHU UHWUDFWLRQ DQG WKH IDFWRUV LQðXHQFLQJ WKH FKRLFH of the right timing and the right type of procedure for the treatment. Open fasciectomy remains the “gold standard” surgical treatment but fasciotomy, OHVV DJJUHVVLYH, PD\ EH D JRRG RSWLRQ IRU VSHFLïF cases with a single thin cord retracting the metacarpophalangeal joint. Dermofasciectomy, where the cord is excised “en bloc “together with the skin directly above, is currently indicated for recurrences or for young patients with severe cases. Recurrences are common and surgical technique is chosen in order to maximize durable correction of the retraction while minimizing risk of complications. |
