Résumé : The aim of this paper is to provide a brief analysis of the text of Tibullus I 1, 48, focusing on the competing readings igne, present in almost all the manuscripts, and imbre, found in the Guelferbytanus 82.6 Aug. F° (G), as well as in the Excerpta Parisina. Critics have long been divided on the issue, but a review of the arguments proposed over time and the presentation of elements of criticism internal and external to the text itself make it possible to opt for igne. The parallels suggested in order to argue for imbre lack relevance. Only igne guarantees the full deployment of Tibullus’ catalogue of images and themes in the text, while avoiding possible misinterpretation and consolidating the unity of the poem.
