Résumé : Discussing the importance of archaic pagan/rural imagery & poetics of one of the major Russian Avant-Garde actors may symbolize the main axis of Russian radical modernism. Velimir Khlebnikov contributed in his own way to this complex matter.Throughout the years Khlebnikov has widely explored archaic peasant imagery in his oeuvre. The article discusses his respective legacy zooming in on the Persian episode of the Russian poet epitomizing his interest in the local popular peasant religion of the Sufi dervishes.
