Résumé : The discovery of a panel of peptides produced by normal and cancerous cells and capable of stimulating cell growth in an autocrine and paracrine fashion has been witnessed in recent years. This article focusses on the local growth factors thought to play a role in the biology of breast cancer and reviews which growth factors' receptors have been associated with prognosis of primary breast cancer. The potential of those growth factors for the development of new anticancer treatment strategies is also briefly discussed.
