Résumé : From Homer to "Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis", the Dany Boon movie (2008), countries from the North, in particular the half-real, half-legendary Scythia, are constantly described as cold and unfriendly lands. Examples drawn from a.o. Virgil, Ovid, Horace and Seneca do confirm that this long-lasting tradition has its roots in Ancient literature.
