Résumé : | Morbid obesity is still a major health issue in western countries, for which the most efficient treatment is bariatric surgery. Nevertheless, expectations for a safer, less invasive and, hopefully, cheaper treatment persist. Different endoscopic techniques have been drawn up, implemented and studied. Some of the features of bariatric surgery have been reproduced, with both successes and setbacks. Some of these procedures could also be applied in situations where patients either fail to lose weight or regain weight after bariatric surgery. In this chapter we review the evolving developments in the field of bariatric endoscopy. |
