Résumé : The paper clarifies the importance of the relationship Tasso-Medici in the genesis of Il Costanteovero de la clemenza. Then it offers a detailed textual analysis of the dialogue, by specifying theeditions consulted by Tasso for the composition. By a dialectic confrontation in measured tones, Tassoand his interlocutor Antonio Costantini can syncretise their different views and offer a plausible imageof the concordia philosophica, which is branded in the Malpiglio secondo overo del fuggir lamoltitudine with the nostalgic definition of « not yet finished harbour ». The paper widely lingers onthe sources used, and offers some causes for reflection about the widening of Tasso’s library.
