Résumé : With its very specific forms, the urban phenomenon outside of the metropolis in DR Congo is little known. By understanding the urban phenomenon in the district of the city of Mbanza-Ngungu prism of planetary urbanisation and the global status of spaces, this paper aims to outline the elements of definition of what the term ‘’medium-sized city’’ can mean in DR Congo, by addressing spatial structuring as a result of the economic transactions of the urban / rural relationship in a multidisciplinary logic. An illustration is made from the specific ISP roundabout market case. The results presented are based on non-participant observations and semi-structured interviews conducted in the field from January 2018, June to September 2018 and 2019 and February 2020.
