Résumé : | Leptospirosis is an ubiquitous zoonosis. Clinical presentation is variable ranging from mild to severe symptomatology with multiorgan failure. We report the case of a young man who presented with a severe form of leptospirosis with hepatitis and acute renal failure. The diagnosis was confirmed by the microscopic agglutination test revealing the highest antibody titers against Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae. The patient reported that he took a bath in the Brussels canal in Vilvoorde. The evolution was favorable with supportive therapy and treatment with Levofloxacin. This case illustrates the presence of leptospirosis in Belgium and the importance of referring to the diagnosis especially in case of epidemiological risk factors. |
