Résumé : We develop a simple theory to study the effects of Kerr nonlinearity on the electromagnetic field coherence. A symmetric non linear Mach-Zehnder optical fibre interferometer is analyzed. The field is perturbed in phase and amplitude. We calculate the statistical properties of the output intensity. We show that the effects of nonlinearity are positive or negative depending on the phase difference between the interferometer arms.
