Thèse de doctorat
Résumé : | My thesis looks at the reforms and privatisation of solid waste management (SWM) in India, and analyses their implementation in the context of complex urban political ecologies of Delhi’s middle-class neighbourhoods. Drawing on long-term ethnographic fieldwork, my dissertation is inspired by New Materialism and Foucauldian scholarship, and develops an original framework to account for the transformations in the waste sector at play in the Indian capital. On the basis of the case study of a SWM public-private partnership, I argue that current changes ought to be understood in light of a multiplicity of waste politics co-existing in various domains of waste practice: historical municipal politics; local ecologies of informal labour; governmental transformations in the urban arena; and technological achievements. |
