Le procès de Jean-Paul Akayesu devant le TPIR fut historique. Pour la première fois, un tribunal international, créé spécialement pour juger les responsables du génocide perpétré contre les Tutsi au Rwanda en 1994, allait se prononcer sur la base de la Convention pour la prévention et la répression du crime de génocide. Cet article met en lumière le rôle des témoignages dans le procès de l’ex-bourgmestre de la commune de Taba.The trial against Jean-Paul Akayesu before the ICTR was groundbreaking. For the first time, an international tribunal, established to try those responsible for the genocide committed against the Tutsi in Rwanda in 1994, was to rule on the basis of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. This article highlights the role of testimonies in the trial of the former mayor of the municipality of Taba.
