Résumé : Optimal parameters of tuned mass dampers (TMD) can be obtained using analytical expressions by reducing the discrete model of the host structure to a sdof system. This simplification leads however to suboptimal solutions, especially when the order of the mode to which the TMD is tuned increases. An alternative is to use numerical optimization based on the full model of the host structure and the TMD. For large finite element models representative of real applications, the costs are prohibitive. We therefore propose an efficient model reduction strategy based on model reduction and substructuring. The methodology is validated on a simple cantilever beam model and a complex finite element model of a 30-storey building.
