Résumé : Studies of families and adopted children have emphasized the importance of genetic factors in alcoholic syndromes. However, the genetic mode of transmission (polygenic, monogenic, multifactorial) remains ill-defined, and although physiopathological studies are promising, they have yet to elucidate the fundamental question, namely what are the hereditary and transmissible components in the alcohol dependence syndrome? Multidisciplinary studies in high risk groups (families, twins) appear to be very promising for future research on alcoholism.
