Résumé : Based on a systematic and exhaustive use of data collected by industry censuses from 1946 to 1970, the Office National de la Securite Sociale and the INASTI for 1974 to 1986, the article explores the unequal industrial development and employment histories for Belgium's principal industrial regions Flanders and Wallonia. The evolution of industrial production is explained using Kondratief cycles. The spatial history of Belgian industrial development and the Flanders-Wallonia dichotomy is seen as a text-book illustration of the law of unequal spatial development. -M.Dean
