Résumé : The vegetation found on a large range of soil temperature (34oC) shows a succession of 3 life forms resulting from a variable equilibrium between responses to the physical and to the biotic environmental factors. Hemicryptophytes are highly competitive but weakly adapted to the high temperatures. Annuals, less competitive, avoid stress by means of a short life cycle. Chamaephytes are characterized by a low competitive ability associated with mechanisms specifically adapted to high temperature. -from English summary
