Résumé : A comparative biomechanical study demonstrates faults in the design of the basic types of total knee implants that are used today. There is a fundamental conflict in the total prosthesis design and the skeleton of the lower extremity. Pathologic fractures of the distal femur and upper tibia are manifestations of this conflict.
